Matic Group Contributes to Australia’s Drought Relief Effort
Rio Tinto is using hay grown at its Pilbara iron ore mines to help drought-stricken farmers on the east coast.
The mining giant has sourced 75 tonnes of hay locally to be delivered to Gunnedah in NSW using charity group Rapid Relief Team, which is taking about 2000 bales east in a convoy to feed livestock on parched paddocks in the east.
To meet its commitment, hay from the company’s agriculture projects in the Pilbara was transported about 1500km by Rio Tinto’s freight transport operator Matic Transport, which donated a truck and driver to the relief effort.
